The Beacon December 2020

2020 has been a year of unexpected circumstances for all of us. Though we have had to be creative in ministry and in everyday life to accomplish tasks in different ways, God has been faithful to help us through everything! He is constant and unchanging, and that brings us great comfort! God wants us to have some good news, so He gave it to us in His word! “Comfort My people;” “I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people;” those are the things we should think about. Jesus Christ has provided a way for us to have peace and joy through the forgiveness of sins and reconciliation with God. Let us cling to that incredibly good news this year and into 2021! We are so thankful for our church family who is so faithful and precious to us! You can still join us virtually on Facebook anytime. Please pray for wisdom as we navigate ministry through this crisis. May God bless you and your families with peace, joy, and love!
With love and gratitude, Pastor Bill, Christy, Eric & Michaela, Marcus & Hannah, Billy, Sarah, & Rocky

Please continue to pray for us as we need to pay off our mortgage. We need monthly support for our salary and donations to help pay off the church loan. Thank you for your faithful prayers and continued support! If you would like to schedule Pastor Bill to come and present our ministry to your church, please contact him at the number above.

The Beacon September 2020

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever.  I will praise You forever, Because You have done it; And in the presence of Your saints I will wait on Your name, for it is good. Psalm 52:8-9 NKJV

“Faith vs. Culture: Lessons from Daniel” excerpts, by Bill Reynolds

Daniel 1:8-21

In this passage, we see Daniel, a young Jewish man, taken captive from his homeland, Israel, and brought to Babylon. The culture in Babylon was entirely different than the one to which Daniel was accustomed. This culture would try to strip Daniel of his identity with his God and challenge his beliefs. Babylon’s culture was saturated with humanism and its government was founded on humanistic principles.

Like Daniel, we find ourselves in a culture that is increasingly more contrary to a belief system based on God’s law of Creation and the practices that He has ordained for our benefit and well-being. Humanism and the socialistic policies that it produces are infiltrating our culture. Thankfully, God has given us principles demonstrated through the life of Daniel to help us live for Him in the midst of a culture hostile to Christianity.

        • Verse eight reveals that we must determine that the practices of the culture will not hinder us from doing what is right.
        • Verses nine through fourteen demonstrate that we must remember that God can create ways for us to do right even in a hostile culture.
        • Verses fifteen through twenty-one reveal that we must trust that we will be better off doing things God’s way.

It was so nice to spend time with the whole family in August, right before Eric and Michaela moved down to St. Croix, Virgin Islands to teach in the Free Will Baptist School down there. They are adjusting well. Marcus and Hannah are settling in at Parkway FWBC in Woodbridge, VA. Billy will finish his second year of piano technology at North Bennet Street School (that was interrupted in March) in September and October. He will continue to serve here at Beacon as a layman as he starts his piano tuning/repair business. Sarah is entering her senior year of high school.  Where did the time go?

Please continue to pray for us as we need to pay off our mortgage. We need monthly support for our salary and donations to help pay off the church loan. Thank you for your faithful prayers and continued support! If you would like to schedule Pastor Bill to come and present our ministry to your church, please contact him at the number above.

Thank you so much for all your prayers!  We are so thankful for the wonderful wedding God provided for our Hannah. She married Marcus Jimmeye on June 20. Here are a few shots we grabbed from some moments. The family pictures were taken by the photographer and are not ready yet. Pictured first is Sarah, Michaela, Billy, Hannah, Pastor Bill, and Christy. Next, it was nice to have Dr. and Mrs. Dave and Gaye Nobles visit. He preached for us on Sunday. Marcus serves as the associate there at Parkway (formerly Bethel) FWB Church in Woodbridge, VA, where Bill served years ago! The second row: Marcus’ mom, Sylvia, with Christy. Marcus surprised Hannah by singing “Cielito Lindo” with a Mariachi band of groomsmen and 1 bridesmaid. Of course, here is a shot of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Jimmeye. 🙂

Church News:

We are planning some outdoor youth activities for the summer. Please pray for us as we look into getting a sign on South County Trail in order to give the church a little more exposure on the main road. Please also pray as we seek to create fall events with the safety guidelines as they evolve.

We are so thankful to know that in these uncertain times, our sovereign God is in control of everything. He is working in amazing ways to help us spread the good news about His Son Jesus Christ! Thank you so much for your faithful, loving prayers and continued support!

“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the LORD.’”Psalm 122:1 NKJV
A Psalm of Thanksgiving.
Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!
2 Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.
3 Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
5 For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.
Psalm 100:1-5 NKJV
Thank you for your faithful prayers and continued support! Though following safety guidelines and keeping distance, it was SO GOOD to be back in the house of the Lord together!
Please continue to pray for us as we need to pay off our mortgage. We need monthly support for our salary and donations to help pay off the church loan. Thank you for your faithful prayers and continued support!
